Weekend Wrap-up: Nov 16-17, 2013

1. It’s the Parade of Lights! Close to 100,000 spectators will line the streets of Downtown Halifax for the most anticipated holiday event of the year, the 18th Annual Chronicle Herald Holiday Parade of Lights, presented by Eastlink TV and Downtown Halifax Business Commission, on Saturday, beginning at 6:00 pm! Head down, grab a good spot and get ready to see Santa! Kids can hand in their letter to Santa, get a flashing red nose, donate a new christmas toy and have a great time!

 Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer Live! Search for the City of Lost Toys, is making it’s Canadian debut this fall with shows at the Rebecca Cohn on Saturday & Sunday. Dora is embarking on her most important mission yet in Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer Live! Search for the City of Lost Toys. Dora has lost her teddy bear and the search is on to find him. With help from the audience,Boots, Map, Backpack, Diego and more, Dora uses her directional, counting, musical and language skills to successfully pass through the Number Pyramid and the Mixed-up Jungle to reach the City of Lost Toys. But watch out! You never know what that sneaky fox Swiper might be up to along the way!

3. Families can fuel the fun factor with the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia’s annual Children’s Festival on Sunday from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm. The AGNS Children’s Festival has become a key event in the regional arts calendar looked forward to by children and their families. Visitors are encouraged to come and join in the fun. 

4. Visit any Cineplex theatre on the morning of November 16 for Community Day! Doors open at 8:30am with a great selection of FREE movies beginning at 9:00am. Plus, enjoy a regular popcorn, regular fountain drink and selected candy for only 2 DOLLARS each with 100% of the proceeds going to the Canadian Olympic Foundation!

5. ‘Tis the season… for Miracle on Main Street at The Village Shops in Dartmouth Crossing! This annual event will kick off the holiday season in style with Tax-Free Shopping (from 9:30am to 10pm) and much, much more! Join them on Saturday at the Pondside Amphitheatre from 11am to 4pm for Miracle on Main Street! Including magical visits with Santa in his Sleigh, FREE train rides on the North Pole Express, complimentary cake and giveaways from Santa’s Elves!
