Where is Junior?

Junior the swan was last seen in Bedford in December. She now calls the Dartmouth Yacht Club home, but Bedford residents are anxious to have her back.

Bedford, was curious about the swan that used to hang out by Fish Hatchery Park and near the Bedford Yacht Club. “I’m unsure if the poor thing passed away, or if it has been re-located during the winter months. I don’t see it anymore.”

The Bedford Beacon asked around, and after a couple of attempts the mystery was solved!

Doug Beattie, a Bedford resident himself, feeds the ducks and swan on Shore Drive at the mouth of the Sackville River.

Apparently “Junior” has been spotted in Wright’s Cove, just beyond the Dartmouth Yacht club.

“She is in the cove behind the rusty tanker that sits at the end of a breakwater seen from the DYC,” explains Beattie. “I visited her [recently] and she seems OK. She recognized me but ignored my plea to come back to Bedford. She’s been away since December 10 and obviously missed by many, besides us. We hope and pray she will return soon!”
