Sometime before August 27, 2015, unknown culprit(s) cut off the wooden safety rails on both sides of the bridge possibly using a power saw. As police try and determine why the rails were removed, one possibility being explored is that it would allow passage of a wide load vehicle.
Damage is believed to be in excess of $10,000. This type of vandalism is serious and could pose a potential danger to users of the bridge. Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal is aware of the incident.
