Winter Storm Watch: December 29 2012

Significant snowfall possible Saturday night and into Sunday.
 
This is an alert to the potential development of dangerous winter weather conditions in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.
 
A significant area of low pressure will pass south of the Nova Scotia late Saturday night and Sunday. Snowfall amounts of up to 15 centimeters are expected by dawn Sunday morning for most of Mainland Nova Scotia, with additional amounts possible Sunday throughout the day. In addition to snow, high winds can be expected and storm surge for the Atlantic coast and Southern Gulf of St Lawrence waters. Environment Canada will continue to monitor the development and storm track of this system in the coming days.
 
The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required.
