Woman charged after crash with ambulance

Police have charged a woman in relation to a motor vehicle collision involving an ambulance that occurred yesterday in Halifax.

At approximately 11:15 a.m. police responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Connaught Avenue and Almon Street. An ambulance with its lights and sirens activated was passing through the intersection when it was struck by a car traveling on Almon Street. The driver of the car was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

A 71-year-old woman was issued a summary offence ticket for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.

Police remind motorists to slow down, move over and yield the right of way when they see an emergency vehicle with its lights flashing. More information on moving over for emergency vehicles is available at https://novascotia.ca/slowdownmoveover/
