At 3:15 p.m., Cheticamp RCMP received a 911 call that a hiker was being attacked by two coyotes on the Skyline Trail in Cape Breton Highland National Park.
Upon arrival at the scene, the Mounties found a 19-year-old female in serious condition. She was been airlifted to hospital for medical attention. The RCMP issued a press release Wednesday morning stating that the woman had died.
An RCMP officer subsequently shot and killed one of the coyotes that continued to be aggressive. The other coyote escaped into the woods.
