Woman Dies After Head-on Crash With Bus

 A 45 year old Halifax female has died after a head-on collision early this evening with a Metro Transit bus.

 A 45 year old Halifax female has died after a head-on collision early this evening with a Metro Transit bus.
Emergency crews were called to the scene of the accident near 1250 Old Sambro Rd in Halifax at approximately 5:20 pm. There were 3 vehicles involved in the collision. A car collided head-on with a Metro Transit bus and was then rear ended by a minivan.
 
At the time of the crash, there were 5 passengers on the bus who were examined by EHS paramedics at the scene and then released. The driver of the minivan was not injured.
 
The 45 year old female driver of the car had to be extricated from the vehicle by Halifax Fire crews and was transported to the QEII where she later succumbed to her injuries.
 
Traffic on the Old Sambro Rd was detoured in both directions for approximately 4 ½ hours while investigators worked on the scene. The cause of the crash has not been determined yet and remains under investigation by the HRP Accident Investigation Team. The name of the deceased driver is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.
