A Timberlea woman escaped to her neighbour’s after being attacked at 3 a.m. while she was sleeping in her own home.
The woman, who was alone, heard her floors creak, and within seconds was attacked by a man who jumped on her in bed, attempted to choke her, and struck her with a metal object. The woman fought back and was able to get away and run to her neighbour’s home. The woman was hurt, receiving injuries to her head, face, and upper body and she was transported to hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not considered to be life threatening.
Police officers, including a Halifax Regional Police K-9 Unit were called to the scene, however, they did not locate the suspect. Because it was dark at the time of the attack, a description of the suspect is not available.
Police are on the scene today and working through the investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Halifax District RCMP or Halifax Regional Police at 902 490 5020.
