Woman held by group of armed people at hotel

Police are investigating a weapons call at a downtown Halifax hotel that occurred early this morning.

At approximately 6:15 a.m. police responded to a report that a woman was being held by a group of people who were believed to be in possession of weapons at the Hollis Halifax Hotel located at 1649 Hollis Street.

Members from the Central Patrol Division, Emergency Response Team and a K9 team attended and located the woman. Officers took three men and two women in to custody at the scene.

Police remain onscene and the investigation is ongoing. It is believed at this time that the woman and the individuals taken in to custody were known to one another. The investigation is in the early stages and updated information will be provided when it becomes available.
