Woman Innovator of the Year to emcee SPARK

Barb Stegemann has a lot going for her these days. In the past year she has won a “2011 Woman Innovator of the Year” award and was named a national finalist for Chatelaine’s “Women of the Year” competition.

Barb recently had the chance to attend the APEC Women and the Economy Summit hosted by Hillary Clinton. Barb was given the opportunity to speak with with Ambassador Melanne Veveer, Ambassador at Large for Women’s Global Issues, who presented her with her award.

Barb is an amazing entrepreneur who found international fame after slaying the Dragons in CBC’s Dragon’s Den with her international perfume business.

The organizers of SPARK have just announced that Barb will be the official emcee of the event which is taking place on October 6 at Harbour Station.

“This is a dream come true,” said Stegemann, who has always dreamed of meeting Trump. Stegemann is a professional speaker and is truly looking forward to sharing the stage with: Donald J Trump, Rudy Giuliani, and Danny Williams.

“We are so excited to have Barb as our emcee for the event” said Momentum Group CEO Brad LeBlanc. “We know that her appeal to women in leadership along with her energizing presentation skills will yet again bring the event to a whole new level.”

SPARK is presented by Lexus of Saint John and supported by many regional sponsors. Full sponsor listing can be found on the official event website.

She made headlines when she became the first woman from Atlantic Canada to land a venture capital deal on Canada’s top rated reality show, Dragons Den, in February of this year.

The intense and persistent business woman not only made a winning pitch, but she made the Dragons cry!

2011 has been a magical year for our fellow Atlantic Canadian. Raised in humble roots in rural Nova Scotia, she is on a mission to empower others in our global village by doing trade with nations experiencing war or strife.

Through her award winning marketing and communications approach, she will tell you she is doing her part to make rebuilding more exciting than destruction through her best selling Collection of fragrances made from oils sourced through fair trade from Afghanistan to Haiti and now Israel and the Middle East.

Barb was nominated for Chatelaine’s 2011 Women of the Year (Entrepreneur category), Nominated Manning Innovation Award 2011, received the Women Innovator award 2011 from the US Secretary of State Department at the APEC summit from Ambassador Melanne Veveer and has been selected by the Minister of Defense to be an Honorary Colonel for the Canadian Military (official ceremony to take place December 9, 2011).

Barb’s best selling book, The 7 Virtues of a Philosopher Queen, brings Adam Smith and Capitalism and Plato and the Polis to her readers. Her book and her fragrance collection are available at all of the 91 beauty counters at The Bay, North America’s oldest department store.

Tickets to SPARK are still available – although floor seats are sold out. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.sparkcanada.ca or visiting the Harbour Station Box Office.
