Woodside Ferry Terminal Recapitalization Has Begun
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that construction on phase one of the Woodside Ferry Terminal Recapitalization has begun.l
The first phase of this project will focus on the installation of two new elevators. Accessible access will be maintained for the duration of the project. Construction on this phase is scheduled to last until March 2020.
Phase two of this project will involve the complete recapitalization of the facility, including two new sets of escalators, new electrical and mechanical systems, entry vestibule, security kiosk, washrooms, lobby, waiting areas and more. Construction on phase two will begin in the early summer of 2020 and will take approximately one year to complete.
Ferry operations will continue as usual during construction of both phases. The impacted areas within the terminal will be separated to protect passengers and minimize noise and dust from the construction.
