Yarmouth RCMP Make Arrest in Attempted Armed Robbery

Just before 7 p.m. on February 15, 2016, Yarmouth Town RCMP officers received a 911 call reporting a disturbance outside a residence on Main St. Further investigation revealed that two men had attempted to rob another man.  One of the suspects was armed with a gun.

Officers responded however were not able to locate the suspects. The investigation was ongoing and on February 25, officers located the armed suspect in a vehicle in Yarmouth and arrested him without incident.

Twenty-one year-old Damon Shae Rees of Lower Sackville has been charged with the following:

  • Attempted Robbery
  • Attempted Robbery with a Firearm
  • Using a Firearm while Committing an Indictable Offence
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Breach of Conditions

Rees has been remanded into custody and is set to appear in Yarmouth Provincial Court today.

Police continue to look for the second suspect.  The investigation is ongoing.
