Yee, MacKay elected chair, vice-chair respectively (HRSB)

Gin Yee has been elected chair of the Halifax Regional School Board (HRSB). Yee, who represents Dartmouth Centre-Harbourview-Burnside-Dartmouth East was elected by his fellow board members at the HRSB’s annual general meeting on November 1. He has was first elected to the HRSB in 2004 and has twice previously served as the board’s chair.

Following the election of chair, Linda MacKay, Clayton Park West-Beechville/Lakeside/Timberlea-Spryfield,was elected as the board’s vice-chair. This is MacKay’s second year as a member of the HRSB. She served as chair of the board’s audit committee for the past year.

Both the chair and vice-chair positions are for one year.

The Halifax Regional School Board serves more than 48,000 students in 134 schools throughout the Halifax Regional Municipality. The board’s mission is “Providing a high quality education for every student every day.”
