I was contacted about this a couple days ago by the kid’s Mom and was just waiting for an official police statement. Here it is:

“Halifax District RCMP is investigating a hit and run incident that was reported yesterday, but which occurred on Monday afternoon.

On September 8th, 2014 at approximately 3:00 p.m., a 10-year-old girl was crossing Glendale Drive near Metropolitan Avenue with friends when she was struck by a vehicle. Traffic had stopped to let a group of older students cross, although they were not at a crosswalk and the younger children followed them. The girl was struck in her right hip/and back area, and was knocked to the ground. Fortunately, she did not sustain any serious injuries, but she did attend the Cobequid Community Health Center, and suffers some whiplash, scrapes and bruises.

The driver of the car did stop briefly, but did not provide his information or report the incident to the police. RCMP are looking to identify the driver in order to speak to him. Involved was a small, silver car with a male driver, and a small child and dog were also in the vehicle at the time.

Police request that the driver, witnesses, or anyone who has information regarding this incident, please contact the Lower Sackville RCMP at (902) 864-6000.”
