Young Highway 101 victim dies

July 10, 2013, Hants County, Nova Scotia . . . The six-year-old boy involved in the motor vehicle collision yesterday on Highway 101 has succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash.

Name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The eight-year-old girl remains in stable condition at the IWK.

Shortly before 11:30 a.m. yesterday morning, police received a 911 call of a multiple vehicle crash on Highway 101 near Exit 7. The investigation revealed that a tractor trailer truck struck a minivan causing it to collide with a motor home towing a car. A 59-year-old Montreal man who was the driver of the transport truck will be appearing in Windsor Provincial Court on Sept 3rd, 2013 at 9:30 a.m on a charge of Dangerous Driving Causing Death.

The RCMP indicate speed was a factor in the collision.
