On April 27, a 15-year-old male youth used a counterfeit $50 bill at a convenience store in Lower Sackville. As a result of the investigation, Lower Sackville RCMP has arrested the youth, and he is facing charges of Fraud and Possession of Counterfeit Currency.
On May 5, a second, similar $50 bill was found and turned in to the Lower Sackville RCMP Detachment. Both bills are made of regular paper and have Chinese symbols on them. The public is being asked to contact the RCMP at 902 490 5020 in the Halifax Region, or 800 803 RCMP (7267) outside of Halifax, if they spot currency similar to the notes in the attached photos. Passing counterfeit money is a crime, and you will not be reimbursed if you unknowingly accept a counterfeit bill.
