Members of the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are investigating an assault with a weapon that occurred this morning in Halifax.
At 3:33 a.m. on March 16, police responded to a report of a stabbing inside an apartment on Randall Avenue. A group of men were in an apartment when another man entered the apartment and a physical altercation ensued. This resulted in one man receiving stab wounds to his leg. The suspect left in a car but was stopped shortly thereafter by police on Gebhardt Street and was arrested without incident. The victim, a 20-year-old Halifax man, was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and released a short time later. The victim and suspect are known to each other.
A 17-year-old male youth from Halifax has been charged with is assault with a weapon, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Youth court today to face these charges.
