Youth charged with Salter Street stabbing

Halifax Regional Police have charged a youth in relation to a stabbing that occurred in Halifax last month.

On December 2, 2022, at approximately 8:50 p.m. police responded to a report of a stabbing in the area of the 5000 block of Salter Street in Halifax. Officers located a 56-year-old man who had been stabbed. The victim was transported to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Yesterday, members of the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division arrested a 17-year-old youth in Halifax. The youth is scheduled to appear in youth court today to face charges of:

  • Attempted murder
  • Aggravated assault
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Breach of a youth probation order (x2)
