Youth faces robbery and assault charges after pepper spraying security at Halifax Shopping Centre

On August 15, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a weapons complaint at the Halifax Shopping Centre.

Staff of the store Zumiez reported that a youth had stolen $400 worth of product and had sprayed a sensory irritant at several security guards.

The 14-year-old youth was held to appear in Halifax Provincial Court to face the following charges:

  • Assault with a weapon x5
  • Robbery
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Disguise with intent
  • Uttering threats
