Youth in custody following early morning robbery

A 17-year-old male was arrested by Police following a robbery involving a taxi.

Prior to 1:30 a.m. today, Halifax District RCMP responded to a complaint of a robbery and an assault that had taken place in a taxi in Shearwater. It’s alleged that a male passenger threatened the driver while attempting to rob him. RCMP, with the assistance of the Military Police, located a 17-year-old male near the scene where he was arrested without incident.

The 17-year-old male will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Youth Court later today where he is facing charges for Robbery, Uttering Threats, Breach of Probation and Obtain Transport by Fraud.

The taxi-driver was not injured.
