Youths arrested after crashing stolen vehicle

 

May 17, 2012, Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) . . . Lower Sackville RCMP have two youths in custody after they attempted to flee in a stolen vehicle.
 
At approximately 1:10 a.m. this morning, RCMP received a suspicious persons report.  Two males had attended a residence on Fern Drive in Beaverbank and asked to use the telephone.  After placing a call and leaving the residence, a 2008 Jeep Wrangler was stolen from the driveway of the home.
 
RCMP received information at 7:55 a.m. that the stolen vehicle was on Mayhill Court in Lower Sackville.  While officers were arriving on scene, the vehicle was attempting to flee, and crashed into a ditch.
 
RCMP currently have a 17-year-old male from Beaverbank and a 17-year-old male from Cole Harbour in custody.  The males are both facing numerous charges including Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Flight from Police, Theft Over $5000.00, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Breach of conditions.  They will be appearing in Halifax Provincial Court tomorrow to answer to these charges.
