NATURAL RESOURCES–Fire Update, Wednesday, Aug. 17, 10 a.m.

Following is a provincial fire update for Wednesday, Aug. 17, 10 a.m.

-- there have been no significant changes to the fires and all four remain 100 per cent contained
-- crews continue to dig out hot spots and extinguish flare ups at the fire at Seven Mile Lake, Annapolis Co. 
-- the fires at and Ten Mile Lake, Queens Co.,  Maitland Bridge, Annapolis Co. and Perch Lake, Pictou Co. are being patrolled, but there is no fire activity
-- the section of Trunk 8 near Maitland Bridge, Annapolis Co., that has been closed since last week is now reopened but drivers are cautioned to be aware of emergency vehicles still along the highway
-- restrictions on travel in woods remain in effect across mainland Nova Scotia and people are asked to continue to avoid any activity that could potentially cause more fires. As announced on Aug. 15, travel restrictions have been lifted for Cape Breton
