Fire Update, Wednesday, Aug. 17, 10 a.m.

Following is a provincial fire update for Wednesday, Aug. 17, 10 a.m.-- there have been no significant changes to the fires and all four remain 100 per cent contained-- crews continue to dig out hot spots and extinguish flare ups at the fire at Seven Mile Lake, Annapolis Co. -- the fires at and Ten Mile Lake, Queens Co., Maitland Bridge, Annapolis Co. and Perch Lake, Pictou Co. are being patrolled, but there is no fire activity–- the section of Trunk 8 near Maitland Bridge, Annapolis Co., that has been closed since last week is now reopened but drivers are cautioned to be aware of emergency vehicles still along the highway-- restrictions on travel in woods remain in effect across mainland Nova Scotia and people are asked to continue to avoid any activity that could potentially cause more fires.
