17-Year-Old Driver Killed, Others Taken To Hospital After Two Accidents

At 8:00 pm last evening August 14th, Halifax Regional Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 102 outbound just past the Kearney Lake Road on ramp. Officers located a motorcycle which had left the road and ended up in the woods, the driver was thrown from the motorcycle. The driver a 17 year old male from the Bedford area was rushed to the QE2 Health Science Centre where he later died from his injuries. The Highway was blocked for several hours while members of the Accident Investigation Team and Forensic Identification Section completed their investigation.

 
While officers where on scene and investigating the original motor cycle accident a second accident occurred inbound on Highway 102 directly across from the motor cycle accident. It appears a vehicle travelling inbound slowed to look at the motorcycle collision  and was rear ended by another vehicle travelling in the same direction. The collision caused extensive damage to both vehicles, the occupants of the two vehicles were treated at the scene by EHS and released.
