(Halifax, NS) – The 2011 Canada Games, taking place in Halifax from Feb. 11-27, proudly announces the entertainment line-up for week one of “Celebration Square at Night” at Grand Parade in Halifax, Feb. 14-18. Headliners include: Joel Plaskett, Sloan, Hey Rosetta!, Matt Mays, The Stanfields, and Hawksley Workman.
Special guests for these free outdoor shows include: Grand Derangement, The Novaks, Christina Martin, and Dutch Robinson. Beginning at 7 p.m. each evening, the schedule is as follows:
Feb. 14 Joel Plaskett
Feb. 15 Sloan with special guest Grand Derangement
Feb. 16 Hey Rosetta! with special guest The Novaks
Feb. 17 Matt Mays with special guest Christina Martin
Feb. 18 Hawksley Workman with special guest Dutch Robinson
*The entertainment line up for week two of “Celebration Square at Night”, Feb. 22-25 will be announced next Tuesday.
“The Canada Games are as much about culture and celebration as they are about sport,” said Canada Games CEO Chris Morrissey. “Celebration Square will bring together people as a community. I’m absolutely thrilled about the calibre of talent that we’ve been able to line up.”
As previously announced, Great Big Sea and City and Colour will headline volunteer thank you shows on February 19 and 27th, respectively. Jeremy Fisher will open for Great Big Sea while Amelia Curran will open for City and Colour.

Other key cultural components of the Games include the National Artist Program and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
The 2011 Canada Winter Games will be the largest multi-sport event held in Nova Scotia and Halifax's first Canada Winter Games.
Held every two years, alternating between summer and winter, the Canada Games are a key event in the development of Canada's young athletes, producing the next generation of national, international and Olympic champions.
