Officers assigned to the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have charged a man with attempted murder in relation to an assault that occurred last night in Dartmouth.

At approximately 3:20 p.m. police were called to an address on Gaston Road for a report of an injured woman. The woman was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Through the investigation, police learned that the victim had been assaulted in a nearby residence by a man who was known to her. At approximately 5:20 p.m. on July 30, a 24-year-old man from Dartmouth turned himself into police.

Jacob Brennan Nagle-Cummings is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to face charges of:

  • 344 Robbery
  • 267(a) Assault with a weapon
  • 268 (1) Aggravated assault
  • 264.1(1)(a) Uttering threats
  • 246(a) Choking to overcome
  • 239(1)(a) Attempted murder
  • 88 Possession of weapon dangerous
  • 733.1(1)(a) Breach of probation order
