Irving Oil introduces Fuel the Care Pumps supporting the IWK Foundation at select HRM locations

Helping local families bridge the distance between home and hospital just got a little easier.

Irving Oil is introducing Fuel the Care Pumps at select retail locations across the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) in support of the IWK Foundation.

Building on the positive impact of its long-standing Fuel the Care program, Irving Oil will donate one cent per litre of fuel purchased at the designated pumps to the IWK Foundation. The donation will be made in the form of fuel gift cards to support local families with the cost of travel for medical care.

Since 2002, Irving Oil has supported the IWK through its Fuel the Care program, providing an annual donation of fuel gift cards to be distributed to families travelling with children requiring medical care. Since that time, more than 6,800 patient families of the IWK have received support through the program.

“We are thankful for our customers’ support in helping to make a difference for families in our local communities,” says Sarah Irving, Executive Vice President and Chief Brand Officer for Irving Oil. “We’re looking forward to the launch of our Fuel the Care Pumps – a natural extension of this meaningful program and our long-standing partnership with the IWK.”

Fuel the Care Pumps will be located at the following Irving Oil retail locations: 15 Fairfax Dr. (Lacewood); 229 Countryview Dr. (Dartmouth Crossing); 2499 Robie St. (Robie Street); 5204 Highway 7 (Porter’s Lake); 599 Prospect Rd. (Prospect) and 6757 Highway 2 (Enfield Big Stop.) Teams from Irving Oil and the IWK will be on site at these locations on Thursday, January 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to celebrate the launch of our Fuel the Care Pumps and to offer full service to customers at the designated pumps.

“Many Maritime families have to travel to the IWK for care and for some the cost of transportation can be a challenge,” says Jennifer Gillivan, President & CEO of the IWK Foundation. “The launch of the Fuel the Care Pumps shows Irving Oil’s continued efforts to support these families during stressful times and for that we are incredibly grateful.”
