Police have referred an incident to the Serious Incident Response Team after a youth was injured while being arrested in Dartmouth.

Halifax Regional Police have referred an incident to the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) after a youth was injured while being arrested last night in Dartmouth.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. police were called to a dispute inside a residence on Sinclair Street in Dartmouth. The home owners wished to have a 17- year-old youth who was known to them removed from the home.​ While officers were attempting to locate a place for the youth to go, the youth’s behavior continued to escalate, and the youth assaulted the home owner and damaged property.

The youth was placed under arrest, and during a brief struggle, the youth sustained an arm injury. The youth was taken to hospital for treatment of the injury.​

Halifax Regional Police has referred the matter to SiRT for their review.​
