31 Days and 31 Ways to Save- Menu Monday and Flyer Shopping

Did you have a good long weekend?

Ours was good and that is why this post is later coming out on Monday. We even got out to a preview of Kung Fu Panda 2 which is out in theaters later this week. But it really deserves a post of its own which it will get.

This month I have been sharing ways to save and there are so many especially when it comes to shopping. From having a list, to collecting and using coupons, to bulk cooking and one of the things I do in conjunction with all of these as I plan my menu in shop my local grocery store flyers.

You can save by shopping the sales. One quick lesson is sale shopping, do not buy more than you need. That means don’t over stock just because it is a good price. Sales often rotate. That cheese that is on sale this week will be on sale again in 6-8 weeks. If you do not get flyers in your mailbox and I do not you can also find them online:

  • GrocerySavings.ca
  • Flyerland.ca

I use both of these as I plan my menu, and then match up my coupons to what is on sale. I then menu plan from there. For me as well I use a Muslim Savings card for my local Muslim market for my meat needs. By combining all these tools I am able to save.In an average month Rachel and I spend $230.00 on groceries and sundries and that includes a meal or two out.

Now what am I cooking this week:

Monday- today was easy we ate out because we were invited out.

Tuesday-Southwest Taco Pie and salad

Wednesday- Breakfast for dinner-Pancakes and tomato slices

Thursday- Udhiya Lamb & Lentil Stew

Friday- Moroccan Couscous and Vegetables

Saturday- Leftovers

Sunday- Chicken Fajitas

Now I am off to Organizing Junkie to see what is on the menu for others this week. What is your favorite recipe? Care to share and I will give it a try.
