31-year-old man stabbed

RCMP Release:

Eskasoni RCMP has charged a man after a stabbing incident in Eskasoni.

On August 19, 2023, at approximately 4:15 a.m., Eskasoni RCMP and EHS, responded to a report of a stabbing on Shore Rd. in Eskasoni. RCMP officers located a 31-year-old man who was suffering from a stab wound to the upper abdomen. The victim’s injuries were considered to be serious, but not life-threatening, and he was transported to hospital by ambulance. The victim was stabbed by a 34-year-old man, who is known to him.

At approximately 9:50 a.m., RCMP officers located the 34-year-old on man on Mountain Rd. and safely arrested him. He was transported to the Eskasoni Detachment and held in custody.

RCMP officers executed a search warrant at a home on Shore Rd. and seized a knife, clothing and DNA.

James Robert Morris Jr., 34, of Eskasoni, has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Uttering Threats (2 counts), Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose (2 counts), Mischief (3 counts), Breach of Probation (3 counts) and Failure to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order (2 counts). Morris Jr. has been remanded into custody and will appear in Sydney Provincial Court today.
