Man seen taking photos of kids at park, police investigate

Halifax RCMP Release:

Halifax District RCMP is investigating a suspicious incident that occurred in Upper Tantallon.

On August 20, 2023, at approximately 2:35 p.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious incident at a park at the intersection of Elk Rd. and White Birch Dr. in Upper Tantallon. RCMP officers learned that between 9:45 and 10:30 a.m., a female youth had been at the park with two children, when the youth observed a dark coloured four-door sedan, with tinted windows and a loud muffler, drive slowly past the park, before the vehicle backed up and stopped alongside the park, where the driver would have had a view of the playground.

The youth noted that there was only one person, the driver, in the vehicle, but they couldn’t see well enough to get a description of the driver. The youth saw that the driver had what appeared to a cell phone in their hand and it seemed like the driver was taking pictures and recording the youth and the children she was with. The youth observed the vehicle drive up and down White Birch Dr. and each time, the driver drove past, with what appeared to be the cell phone, recording and taking pictures.

The youth and the children left the park and the last time they saw the vehicle, it was driving away on White Birch Dr.

Anyone with information about this vehicle, or the driver, is asked to contact Halifax District RCMP at 902-490-5020. Should you wish to remain anonymous, please contact Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers toll free at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submit a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca, or use the P3 Tips App.
