51-year-old woman hit in crosswalk on Robie Friday Morning

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a vehicle/pedestrian collision that occurred in Halifax this morning.

At 7:19 a.m., police responded to a vehicle/pedestrian collision at the intersection of Young Street and Robie Street. A 51-year-old woman crossing Robie Street in a marked crosswalk was hit by a vehicle turning left from Young Street onto Robie Street. She suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS. A 42-year-old Lower Sackville man was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Road safety is a shared responsibility. Motorists are reminded to slow down, pay attention and adjust their driving for the conditions. There is a crosswalk at every intersection, whether it is marked or not, and drivers must yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk.
