We all have done it, wanted to create perfection in our homes on a budget. You can be frugal and chic too. I know to decorate my own home over the years I have always had to do it on an extreme budget. So how do you get the desired results without spending oddles of cash. I have had some rules for years that have helped me.

1. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle works for creating a beautiful space as well.

For me over the years by living in a simple environment it works. We don’t have a lot of furniture or things cluttering up our lives. We keep it simple and try and stick to things that will last.

Has something outlived its first use? Can it be used for something else? That is the question I ask. I also have a wonderful good will store down the street from me so I am always looking at the furniture, loving for pieces that I can recycle.

2. Save for quality.

I have a few good things that don’t come second hand. I saved for them. By saving for a piece you get something that can the stand the test of time. By saving you then have money and a plan and by taking your time, you can often find that perfect piece at a great price point.

3. Trust your gut.

What works in your home, what you love may not be what your neighbour loves. Unique is ok. Remember you are the one who wakes to it each morning. Make it a space YOU love.

4. Seek inspiration.

For me recently alot of inspiration comes from checking out Pinterest, but I have also found inspiration collecting shells on the beach, at a  flea market, or from a piece of fabric.

5. Learn how.

Want to remake something? Lean how. There are so many classes offered in the community that help teach you how to remake that item you are dying to re do, or on a budget and want to know it now, the Internet is a great resource and there are many instructional blogs, and how to videos on Youtube.

6. Remember Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Take your time. You do not have to have that perfect space today. It is about the journey, the hunt, the remake, the journey to the room you want. You will always be changing things up, accept that.
