8-year-old hit by vehicle

Halifax Regional Police is providing an update on a vehicle pedestrian collision that occurred this weekend in Halifax.

On March 5 at approximately 1 p.m., police responded to a vehicle pedestrian collision at the intersection of Lacewood Drive and Dunbrack Street. The driver of a vehicle approaching the intersection lost control, rear-ended another vehicle, and then drove onto the sidewalk striking an 8-year-old child who was walking in the area.

The child was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle, an 85-year-old man, was issued a summary offence ticket for failing to drive vehicle at a careful and prudent speed for existing conditions.
