Hit and run suspect later arrested at second collision

Halifax Regional Police have charged a man in relation to a vehicle crash that occurred this weekend in Dartmouth.

On March 5 at approximately 3:30 p.m., police responded to a vehicle collision in the 300 block of Pleasant Street in Dartmouth. The driver of a truck backed into a parked vehicle and then left the area prior to officers arriving on scene.

At 3:44 p.m., police responded to a report of a truck that had crashed into a power pole in the area of Mount Hope Avenue and Highway 111. The truck and the driver matched the description from the earlier incident on Pleasant Street. Officers arrested the driver at the scene without incident.

Justin Anthony Bishop, 22, is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to face charges of:

  • Operation of a conveyance while impaired
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Obstruct police
  • Failure to comply with probation order
