89-year-old pedestrian dies in hospital after incident in Stewiacke

The pedestrian who was struck in crosswalk last evening passed away this morning.

At approximately 6:15 p.m. last evening, the 89-year-old man, from Stewiacke, was crossing Main St. at Riverside Ave in a marked crosswalk, when he was struck by a pick-up truck. He was transported by EHS to the Colchester East Hants Health Center in Truro with serious injuries. He was later taken to the QEII Health Sciences Center in Halifax, where he passed away this morning.

Colchester District RCMP report the roads were snow covered as it was snowing at the time of the collision. The investigation is continuing.
