One of the Halifax residents who quickly jumped into action to help find a missing 9-year-old girl today wrote in to tell how events unfolded for him.

Brett Locke of Halifax writes,

Aprrox. 4:40 I decided to head over to Bayers lake to go to Future Shop. I quickly check my Twitter account before I started driving and saw a few posts about a missing girl in the area. I clicked on the link the Chronicle herald had and read through the description of the girl and what she was wearing (blue shirt that said Winnipeg, glasses) As I turned on to Lacewood Drive to head towards Bayers lake  I noticed a girl walking on the side of the road . She had on a blue shirt and glasses but I could tell right away if it said Winnipeg on it or not. as I got closer I could make out that this was the girl the police were looking for. I pulled over to the side of the road by the on ramp for the highway and called 911 around 445pm. They asked for a description and location and which way she was walking (towards The Irving by Future Inns) I told 911 that I couldn't get turned around without causing an accident and had to drive towards Bayers lake to get turned around . I pulled into Costco and quickly made my way back towards the Irving. 911 told me that as soon as I was pulling into the Irving that she was with an attendant at the station and the police were on scene. She was visibly upset and scared.

Glad I made the decision to go to the future shop when I did and that she is ok.

The girl was located safe and sound and returned to her parents.
