91-Year-Old Woman Dies After Altercation Between Patients At Facility

On October 5, at 9:24 p.m., police responded to Evan Hall, a memory care facility operated by Parkland Clayton Park, located at 156 Parkland Drive in Halifax for an assault that had occurred earlier in the evening. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 74-year-old woman got into an altercation with a 91-year-old woman. The 91-year-old woman fell to the floor during the altercation and sustained serious injuries. The victim was transported to hospital by EHS where she remained in critical condition. She passed away in hospital last night at 9:35 p.m.
 
Investigators with the HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit are investigating the death. An autopsy will be conducted later today by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service. 
 
The investigation is on-going.
