Halifax Regional Police is requesting the public’s help in obtaining cell phone video taken of a robbery that occurred last week in Halifax.
On March 3 at 5:04 p.m., officers responded to a report of a man threatening another man with a knife in front of the Halifax Central Library on Spring Garden Road. Officers located and arrested the suspect a short time later, not far from where the incident occurred. Forty-eight-year-old James Andrew Ashton of Dartmouth has been charged with one count each of robbery, uttering threats and assault with a weapon, and two counts each of possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace and carrying a concealed weapon.
A witnesses to the incident stated that there was a person(s) in the area taking videos of the robbery with their cell phone. Investigators would like to speak with this person(s) in relation to obtaining the video.
Anyone who took a video of the incident or has information in relation to the incident who has yet to speak with officers is asked to contact Halifax Regional Police at 902-490-5016.
