Monday Shoe Porn – Mel’s 29 pairs

L-A: Happy Shoe Porn Day! I want to find some way of mentioning the Olympics, like, “the gold medal in shoes go to…”, but it just feels too forced.  Instead, I’ll just introduce you to Mel and her fantastic shoes. She has a pair of Michael Kors that I remember seeing at John David Shoes and I am fully envious that she bought them and I did not. She’s also my Ebay hero: Marc Jacobs and Pucci are among her ebay scores.  Although, she seems to have a similar affliction as me: owning shoes that don’t fit quite as well they should (oh my red Cole Haans…I love you, even if you do cut and blister my feet).

Aerosole, Soft Moc - Sensible kitten heel, easy to walk in. Nothing fancy.  Aldo - I bought these to wear to a wedding. Kind of whoreish in retrospect I guess. Oh well. I looked pretty good if I do say so myself....  Aldo - Standard go-to strappy gold heels.  Aldo - Super comfortable wedge heels. Look just as good with a pair of jeans as with dress pants.  Aldo - Yet another pair of black flats that don't fit well... I think I have a problem...  Aldo - I wore these to death last summer. Super comfortable and fierce looking to boot.  BCBG, John David - I picked these beauties up at the John David 1/2 price Christmas sale. They're pretty comfortable and super hot. They have an ever so slight peep toe and are totally rock and roll. Birkenstock, Comfort Zone - If THESE shoes could talk! I love these shoes. They're not terribly sleek and stylish but it's like a warm embrace for my feet. Me and these shoes have been through a lot together..  Carlos Santana, Fanatic Footwear - When I first moved back to Halifax I had a crappy job working at an old folks' home for approx. 3 days. As I would get closer on the bus, I would sink further down into the seat until I was pretty much in a fetal position by the time I got to work. The job paid really well, so I took my entire paycheque and bought these shoes. They're incredibly uncomfortable and I've only worn them once. They were still totally worth it.....  Roberto Cavalli, Winners (!!! $15!!!!!) - I picked these up in high school before even knew who Roberto Cavalli was I'm sure. They're still awesome and comfortable.  Calvin Klein, KAS - My go-to black pumps for just about any occasion. Well worth every penny spent...  Etnies, Frozen Ocean - These shoes were an impulse buy on the way to work one day. They were the only shoes I had to wear for a 3 month trek to Europe. If these shoes could talk.....  Feet First - Comfortable heels that I can walk a long distance in. I bought them for work, but realized that I am not one of those people that can work a 12 hour / shift service industry job in heels.  John Fluvog, Online store - These represent my first major shoe lust, and first major shoe splurge. I worked all summer at a crappy job and bought these at the end of the summer as a special treat. I haven't worn them in years but nostalgia keeps them around.  Fly London, Comfort Zone - I don't even want to talk about how much these boots cost. Super incredibly comfortable and worth every penny to be totally honest.  Frye, Winsby's - I was having a rough go with readjusting to being a full time student and holding down a part time job at a bar. I was working extra shifts and getting pretty stressed out. These were my reward. Totally badass and surprisingly comfortable.  Havianas, KAS - Standard black flip-flops. Great for the beach or just bumming around in the summer.  Hunter, Biscuit - These are the best $100 I ever spent. After years of not having proper boots to deal with the crappy Halifax climate my feet were happy and comfortable for the first time last winter. Great in the snow/ slush with a pair of home knit wool socks.  Jessica, Frenchy's - These shoes were $8, and they're kind of faketastic, but they look cute but only when walking is kept to a minimum.  Kangaroo, Hollywood Blvd., LA - I'm pretty sure these shoes probably fell off the back of a truck as they were purchased at a pretty sketchy sneaker store on a bad part of Hollywood Blvd. but they're pretty rad anyway...  Le Chateau - I bought these for work. They're about a 1/2 size too big, and as a result they just kind of sit on my shoe shelf...  Marc Jacobs, ebay - I was really depressed to be working New Years' Eve one year. I bought these as compensation.  Michael Kors, John David Shoes - These.Shoes.Stopped.Me.In.My.Tracks. They called my name from the window and before I knew it they were on my feet, my credit card was being swiped and I left the store in a strange daze. They make me about 6'2" but they are incredibly comfortable and to quote Tyra, FIERCE!  New Balance, Sportcheck(?) - Pretty sure these puppies haven't been on my feet in about 4 years. By having gym sneakers I can still hold on to the slim chance (yeah right) that I'll one day actually go to the gym.  Pucci, ebay - I saw these shoes and pretty much fell in love. Sadly, they are just a 1/4 size too small, but I can't part with them. They live on a shelf in my bedroom, on permanent display.  Sascha London, John David - These were an impulse buy as they were heavily discounted. I'm not sure how I feel about them and I think I've only worn them once or twice.  Steve Madden, Winners - Super comfortable ballet flats. Nothing special, but pretty damn comfortable  Vans, ebay - I have a mild obsession with slip on Vans. Super comfortable, basic black sneakers.  Vans, ebay - These were my "winter sneakers" for awhile. Note the faux fur lining....

While I didn’t make any connections between the Olympics and shoes, we did provide some vapid and hopefully entertaining live coverage of the opening ceremonies on Twitter on Friday night.  The best part of the evening was this gem from The Coast. I’m sure Ally is still reeling over the Kate Gosselin-hair that Catriona Le May-Doan was sporting.

And, as always, we’re always looking for new shoes for the shoe porn.  You can upload them to Flickr or email them to us. Whatever is easiest for you.

AllyG: Oh, la, la the Michael Kors! I have to say, Mel’s collection has warmed my cold, overtired heart this morning at the indecent hour of 5am. How come I can never find any shoes at Aldo? L-A, we must plan a trek to Aldo, perhaps with our pals from Haligonia to see what I can find. Er, see what WE can find. Sorry, forgot it wasn’t all about me again. Ok! It totally is! But let’s pretend I care about your shoes as well, mmmkay? BabyG likes this collection as well, he just finished his fifth meal of the night, so he’s pretty much happy about anything! He has been up throughout the night with a cold and is going, “rah! rah! rah!” beside me whilst shaking his tailfeather. Well played, Mel!
