Investigators with the General Investigation Section (GIS) of the Integrated Criminal Division have arrested and charged a man for the August 5, 2018 shooting that occurred on Downey Rd. At the time, a silver car was observed firing multiple gunshots towards a home. No one was injured.
On August 15, 2018 at approximately 3:30 p.m., 24-year-old Cambridge Jecoby Downey known as Colby Downey was arrested in Preston by Halifax District members and then turned over to GIS investigators.
He is charged with the following offences:
- Discharge Firearm – Cause Bodily Harm – Intent
- Intentionally Discharge Firearm While Being Reckless
- Careless Use of a Firearm
- Pointing a Firearm
- Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Restricted Weapon, or a Prohibited Device
- Possession of Firearm Knowing Possession Is Unauthorized
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
Downey appeared in court on August 16, 2018 and was released on conditions. His next court appearance is September 20, 2018.
