Crown Attorney Appointed in Sydney

The appointment of new Crown attorney Keavin Mathieu Finnerty in Sydney was announced today, Sept.5, by the Public Prosecution Service.“I am very pleased to have Mr. Finnerty join our team of Crown attorneys," said Martin Herschorn, director of Public Prosecutions. "His education and deep interest in the criminal prosecutorial process will be invaluable to the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service."A native of Ottawa, Mr. Finnerty graduated from Carleton University in 2013 with a bachelor of arts in law and from the French common law program at the University of Ottawa law school in 2017. He graduated with the highest standing in advanced criminal law procedure and criminal law sentencing.Mr. Finnerty articled with Legal Aid Ontario in Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin Island focusing on criminal law and family law. He was a recent member of the Youth Advisory Council of the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario and a volunteer judge of the Capital Cup Undergraduate Moot competition in Ottawa.
