Man arrested following attempted break and enter – Cole Harbour

The quick action of a home owner resulted in the arrest of a 19-year-old man after an attempted break and enter in to a home prior to 3:30 a.m. on Thursday morning.

The home owner awoke to the man attempting to break in to a home on Parkway Dr. in Cole Harbour. They called 911 and within minutes RCMP, with the assistance of Halifax Regional Police K-9 Unit, were in the area. The man was located a short distance from the residence where he was placed under arrest without incident.

Colton James Rourke, of Cole Harbour, was arrested and remanded in to custody.

He is appearing in Dartmouth Provincial Court today where he is facing charges for Break and Enter with Intent, Trespassing at Night, Possession of Break in Instruments, and Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.

The investigation is continuing.
