Two overnight incidents : Aggravated assault in Halifax / Arrests involved a youth for break and enter in Dartmouth

Police respond to an aggravated assault incident on Gottingen Street in Halifax.

At 8:28 pm police responded to 2044 Gottingen street, the Salvation Army, to a report of a disturbance on the sidewalk involving several males.

Witnesses report an ignitable fluid was sprayed upon one male who sustained minor injuries after the fluid was briefly ignited.

Another male was sprayed with a sensory irritant.​

At 8:45 pm two males at the scene were taken into custody without incident.​ A knife was recovered on one of the males.

The 47 year old male victim who had been sprayed with an ignitable fluid was taken to the QE II for treatment of non life threatening injuries.

A 29 year old male has been charged with attempted aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. ​

A 27 year old male has been charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Investigators learned the 47 year old male victim was not the intended subject of the assault.​ The original disturbance involved the two accused persons who are known to each other.

Both accused remain in police custody and will appear in Halifax Provincial court later today.

Police make arrest after a break and enter in progress on Windmill Road in Dartmouth.

Police have a 14 year old male and a 37 year old male in custody after responding to a break and enter in progress last night.

At approximately 1:06 am a witness reported observing two males attempting to break into a business in the 300 block of Windmill Road in Dartmouth.

Responding members observed a broken window at the business and at 1:17 am located two suspects on the property.​ They were taken into custody without incident.

Investigators learned the suspects were unable to enter the business and no property was removed.

Both suspects remain in police custody and will appear in Provincial court later today.

The youth is facing ​ break and enter and mischief charges.

The adult is facing break and enter, mischief and possession of house breaking tools charges.
