Halifax man arrested for Impaired Driving following hit and run
A Halifax man was arrested for Impaired Driving after driving on the wrong side of the highway and being involved in a hit and run collision.
Just after 10 p.m. on December 1, Halifax Regional Police (HRP) was dispatched to a complaint of a car driving inbound in the outbound lanes of the Bedford By-pass. HRP located the vehicle involved, a damaged Chrysler PT Cruiser, parked in the median near Dartmouth Rd.
This is within RCMP’s territory so an RCMP member attended and spoke to a 29-year-old Halifax man who identified himself as the driver. The man showed signs of impairment and failed the Roadside Screening Device Test. He was arrested without incident and faces charges of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance (by Alcohol) and Impaired Operation of a Conveyance (by Alcohol) with a Blood Alcohol Concentration that is equal to or exceeds 80 mg%. He was also issued a Summary Offence Tickets for Failing to Drive on Right Side of Highway.
The same car and driver were identified to have been in a hit and run collision earlier that evening, so the man was issued an additional Summary Offence Ticket for Failing to Immediately Stop at the Scene of Collision.
The man was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on February 5, 2020.
