Cheers: Halifax hosts first ever Scotian Distillery Festival, tasting sessions at Richmond Yards

Nova Scotia’s growing craft distilling community will take centre stage at the inaugural Scotian Distillery Festival, taking place Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Richmond Yards in Halifax.

Presented in partnership with the Craft Distillers Association of Nova Scotia, the festival will offer two tasting sessions, beginning at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to sample more than 50 locally produced spirits and liqueurs, along with 10 creative mini-cocktails showcasing the quality and versatility of Nova Scotia-made products.

“Nova Scotia’s distillers are producing exceptional spirits that reflect the ingredients, creativity and character of our province,” says festival organizer Mark DeWolf. “This festival gives people an opportunity to meet the makers, discover new products and experience the remarkable diversity of our local distilling industry in one lively and welcoming setting.”

Festival guests can expect to discover locally made whisky, gin, vodka, rum, fruit spirits, liqueurs and other distinctive products. Distillers and brand representatives will be on hand to share the stories behind their products and explain how they are made.

Admission includes samples from participating distilleries, a selection of curated mini-cocktails and complimentary chef-crafted appetizers featuring local ingredients. Live music will add to the celebratory atmosphere.

The festival will also mark the official launch of the new Nova Scotia Spirits Guide, created to help consumers explore the people, places and products shaping the province’s craft distilling industry.

Unlike many tasting events, the experience does not have to end when guests leave the festival. Attendees will have an opportunity to purchase featured products to take home, making it easy to continue supporting Nova Scotia distillers throughout the year.

The Scotian Distillery Festival is designed for experienced spirits enthusiasts and curious newcomers alike. Whether guests are looking to discover a new favourite whisky, learn more about locally made gin or simply enjoy an afternoon or evening celebrating Nova Scotia craftsmanship, the festival promises an approachable and engaging experience.
