If there’s a blue felt busy board with cartoon dinosaurs in your toy bin, take a look at the second page. Health Canada says the small red pieces on that page can come loose and are a choking hazard for children under 3.

The recall, posted Oct. 7, covers Esjay Toddler Busy Board Montessori Toys in blue with dinosaurs. The company says 32,340 of them were sold in Canada between August 2023 and September 2026, so this is a toy that’s been around for three years of birthdays and baby showers.

Somewhere in the middle — and that's okay.

The good news is that no one has been hurt. As of Sept. 22, the company had no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.

The board is made of blue felt with a carrying handle, and it closes with an elastic cord and a button. It has five pages: cartoon dinosaurs on the front, 26 letter squares with cartoon animals on the back, and the problem page with the red parts second from the front.

You don’t have to throw out the whole board. Health Canada says to stop using it, unzip the page with the red small parts, write “RECALLED” on both sides of that page and throw it away. Then email a photo of the discarded page to esjay-service@outlook.com, and the company will send a free replacement page.

Questions can go to Esjay US at 1-888-206-9309, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time on weekdays, or through the company’s recall page. Health Canada says recalled products can’t be resold or given away in Canada, so don’t pass it along to a friend or a thrift store.
