Release:
A man faces charges in connection with an assault that took place
Wednesday night at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., an altercation took place between two
inmates that resulted in one of the participants falling down a flight
of stairs. The 49-year-old man was taken to hospital with injuries that
are potentially life-threatening. As a result of the investigation, the
other inmate was arrested without incident yesterday afternoon at the
Dartmouth courthouse.

Thirty-nine-year-old Patrick Carl Shea of Dartmouth is scheduled to
appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to face charges of aggravated
assault, breach of probation and breach of recognizance.
