November 14, 2011, Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) . . . Members of Halifax District RCMP have arrested a driver after a dog was struck and killed.
On Sunday, November 13, 2011, at approximately 4:20 p.m., a man and woman were walking with dogs on Candy Mountain Road near Mineville. A black pickup truck drove past at a high rate of speed. There was a brief exchange between the driver and the man. The driver drove the truck back toward the man and woman. Their dog was struck and killed by the driver. The driver then left the scene. He was arrested by police a short time later at a residence on Candy Mountain Road. During the arrest, the man attempted to resist police. Members of the Halifax RCMP/HRP Integrated General Investigative Section (GIS) continue to investigate this incident.
26-year old Jordan Donald Schreiner will appear in Dartmouth Provincial court this morning. He is charged with the following offences:
Assault with a Weapon (two counts)
Dangerous Driving
Fail to Remain at Scene of Accident
Assault Police Officer
Resist Arrest
Causing Unnecessary Suffering to an Animal
