Police are investigating an assault with a weapon which occurred overnight Saturday overnight in Halifax.
 
At approximately 2:06 a.m., police responded to an assault inside the Toothy Moose Bar located at 1661 Argyle Street. A 28-year-old male victim was hit in the face numerous times with a broken beer bottle and suffered several lacerations. He was treated at the scene by EHS and subsequently attended the QE2 Health Sciences Centre. The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival but was followed by a witness who directed officers to his location. He was arrested without incident at the intersection of Argyle Street and Carmichael Street.
 
Twenty-two-year-old Jeffrey Bryan Macdonald of Halifax is charged with assault and assault with a weapon. He was held in custody and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court today.
